Disturb Yourself This New Year

This year, you’ve got to yank-out yourself. Yes, disturb yourself this way.

What does it mean by yank-out? As urbandictionary.com puts it, yank-out is to pull out all the stops or any reservations; and/or not to hold back.

The challenge set upon you and me is yank-out ourselves in setting goals. Do not hold yourself back. Hence, be bold in setting your big goals.

Michael Hyatt, a New York Times bestselling author, shares that having big goals instead of small goals can make a big difference. Big goals will give you a sustained energy.

In other words, when you set a goal bigger than yourself, you can’t help but push yourself.

The key to keep moving forward is to set your eyes on something grand. A very small goal may lead you to boredom and complacency.

Today, why not start writing down your big goals for 2015.

Are you a student? How about aiming to ace all your quizzes, exams, and projects and be at the peak of your performance?

Are you an employee? How about aiming to get that “beyond expectation” rating during your year-end review?

Are you a ‘wanna-be’ entrepreneur? How about aiming to start your business on the grounds and earn your first huge profits?

To add to this are the specifics like the deadline and how big is big. Is peak performance asking you to have 95 percent rating and above? Is “beyond expectation” rating demanding you to be rated 4 out of 5 (5 being the highest)? Is huge profits equal to P20,000 a month or P50,000 a month or P100,000 a month? Define your terms.

When are you going to achieve these goals? Do you want to achieve your goal in June or September? Will the measurement be on a monthly or quarterly basis? Define your deadline. Without a deadline, it is just a wish.

Let me repeat my one big message: Yank-out yourself by setting big goals.

With these are three sub-messages: First, write them down. Second, be specific. Third, set a deadline.

Do these and look forward to a rewarding year ahead.

I pray for an exciting year for you and me.

Today, spark that excitement and start to succeed.

Live your dream,

Chris Dao-anis
